Welcome to Calm Water Counselling

Thank you for visiting Calm Water Counselling and a very warm welcome. My name is Rebecca and I offer general counselling for many kinds of difficulties. We can all feel a bit overwhelmed sometimes by what life throws at us. With counselling I can help you through these difficult times by providing face to face, online or telephone counselling support.

Who is counselling for?

Counselling therapy is for anyone experiencing or has experienced challenges including:

· Loss and grief

· Relationship difficulties

· Feelings of isolation or loneliness

· Stress

· Anxiety

· Work related issues

· Emotional health difficulties

· Physical health difficulties

· Trauma

· Abuse

· Personal development

I believe that the relationship between client and counsellor is fundamental to the success of the therapy. My aim is to build an emotionally safe, confidential space where you can share and work through whatever may be troubling you..

What is Person Centred counselling?

The purpose of person-centred therapy is to facilitate our ability to self-actualise - the belief that all of us will grow and fulfil our potential. This approach facilitates the personal growth and relationships of a client by allowing them to explore and utilise their own strengths and personal identity. The counsellor aids this process, providing vital support to the client and they make their way through this journey. This psychological environment is one where a person feels both physically and emotionally free from threat.

A number of factors can affect a person’s ability to flourish, including low self-esteem, a lack of self-reliance and very little openness to new experiences. The person-centred approach recognises that a person’s social environment and personal relationships can greatly impact these, so therapy is offered in a neutral and comfortable setting, where a client can feel at ease, authentic and open to learning about themselves.
